Maria Gateva was four
years old when she made the first steps in Rhythmic Gymnastics in 1983 – the
generation of the Bulgarian “Golden girls”.
Her first coach was Maria Kyzmanova. She was followed by Valentina
Ganeva, Krasimira Filipova and Neshka Robeva. Maria became part of the
Bulgarian National Rhythmic Gymnastics team in 1993 and continued to compete
under the Bulgarian flag for 6 years.
She took part in several European and World
competitions and her best achivements were:
1994, 1995: National champion -
senior, individual Rhythmic Gymnastics
1992, 1993, 1994, 1995,
1996, 1997, 1998: National team champion - Rhythmic Gymnastics
1995: 7th place at
European cup, Telford – individual RG; 6th place on ball; 4th
on ribbon
1994: 3rd place at
European Championships – team, RG
1993: 1st place at
European Championships – team, RG
